Vitamin C for Acne Scar Removal

by Raffaella

The oral administration of vitamin C has proven in a clinical study to help with wound healing. This study also mentions that genetic impairment of collagen synthesis was treated with vitamin C.
the use of the vitamin C combined with plant based natural substances called the bioflavonoids increases the rate of tissue healing and deals effectively with all wounds. Usual dosage: Vitamin C (with bioflavonoids) 1,000 mg every day.

Externally, the vitamin C has to be delivered in high dosage to the skin and as a result of that more collagen will be formed and normal collagen that is often found tethering scars will be replaced with normal collagen and the scars will fill up to a degree and become less noticeable. In Iontophoresis treatment, a vitamin C serum is applied onto the skin followed by a very low level electrical current, which increases the depth of penetration of the Vitamin C. Being a powerful antioxidant, Vitamin C repairs the skin’s damaged collagen and also lightens deep pigmentation. It is also used as an adjunct to skin rejuvenating and lightening procedures.Additionally, the iontophoresis electrical current also cures swollen acne, and helps pores and skin stay fit.
Vitamin C also effects pigmentation in two ways: The creation of melanin is an oxidative process and so a powerful antioxidant like vitamin C could counteract the oxidative process required to create melanin. Ascorbic acid also has a role to play as an inhibitor tyrosinase. Tyrosinase is essential for the formation of melanin, so if it is inhibited then the action of pigmentation is reduced.
