Neem Oil for Acne Scars

by Caty

Neem oil is a vegetable oil pressed from the fruits and seeds of Neem (Azadirachta indica), an evergreen tree which is endemic to the Indian subcontinent.
It is a traditional treatment for severely damaged skin.
The concentrated essential fatty acids help to restore moisture and elasticity to the skin. Neem can be mixed with Turmeric, known for its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
You can also apply some neem oil to a cotton ball and gently rub for about a week on the fresh scar. If preferred a paste can be made by adding a small amount of olive oil or Aloe Vera oil until desired consistency is reached. Neem increases blood flow which aids in creating the collagen fibers that helps the wounds to close.
This oil is naturally thick and solidifies even at room temperature. To liquefy, place bottle in hot water for a few minutes. Store in cool dark place.Do test spot on skin to test for skin sensitivity. Some people and/or pets are sensitive to neem oil and require greater dilution (especially small children and babies). Avoid contact with eyes. For external use only. Keep out of the reach of children.
