They are usually narrower than 2 mm and extend into the deep dermis or subcutaneous layer.

The best treatment for ice pick scars is Excision treatment. Icepick scars are usually too deep to correct with skin resurfacing treatments such as Dermabrasion or laser resurfacing.

-Boxcar scars are angular scars that have sharp vertical edges and can be superficial or deep. They are also very similar to the scars left by Chickenpox. Click Here to see a Photo!

Deep boxcar scars require treatment techniques like punch excision.

-Rolling scars give the skin a wave-like appearance. Click Here to see a Photo!

The damage is under the surface of the skin which can appear normal. Subcutaneous incision, also known as Subcision, is used to break up the fibrous bands that cause rolling scars.

-Hypertrophic scars are thickened scars, and may be associated with some of the more severe types of cystic acne.Generally a combination approach is necessary to obtain good results in the treatment of hypertrophic scars. They requires medical attention, and a doctor can help you find the treatment that will work best for you. In some cases the scar can be removed by laser treatment, but this is only in more serious cases where the scars are deep.

It is important that all the acne is clear before treating scarring. Otherwise, new scars form and the procedures are wasted. Before you look over some of the FDA approved treatments though, you should always remember to be realistic with your expectations.

If you have no time or money for surgical procedures, your goal is to find a medication that is designed to diminish, if not remove altogether, the scarring that has occurred on the skin
