Camouflage for Acne Scars

Camouflage for Acne Scars?

The camouflage, or corrective makeup, is finding a lot of attention in the medical field since this treatment has a strong social impact and it can reduce the insecurity in individuals with skin blemishes, scars caused by acne, from surgery, capillaries, vitiligo or inflammatory lesions.

Compared with the normal foundation  the camouflage products adhere well to the skin but  they are more heavy and dense.

The main goal of the  camouflage is  to disguise the lesion  with a choice of color very similar to the natural complexion, creating a natural feeling on skin but also a long-term corrective action.

There general belief is that this technique is very complicated  and that the work, when not well done, producie an artificial appearance.
However, in recent years, many companies  dedicated to this sector, have developed a series of products with effective, fast and easy application and the results, even if used directly by patients , is getting closer to perfection.

However, there is a distinction between the camouflage that takes place at home and the professional makeup.

The main difference is that professional makeup, to reduce the intensity  of the lesion work on the theory of colors. The camouflage for home use,  is achieved with creams, available in pharmacies, which come in different shades and applied by tapping with the finger on the area to be covered. Finally, a colorless powder is applied on the skin.

The other way to do camouflage for acne scars, perhaps more artistic but not for everyone,  is characterized by two phases: the first   using a colored base composed of vegetable oils, waxes, mineral or plants, which contrasts the color of blemishes and  a correctors that give a matte effect or a light shade, and a second phase in which the skin  is covered with a normal make up.

If you have to do with an acne scar, you must consider that the scar tissue is generally less permeable. The scar should be clean but do not treated with moisturizer before covering them with a product correction.

The foundation should be applied with a sponge or a cotton ball, just on it and not on the skin around it.

Having identified the right tone, the camouflage for acne scars is applied on both the lesion and the surrounding area,  fixing it with the colorless powder .
The excesses of powder is removed after about 5 minutes, with a soft brush.
Tthe application should be repeated several times when the color is the biggest problem (hypo-or hyperpigmented scars).
The same applies  in front of asymmetries due to surgery that caused unilateral and depressed scars. In these cases a more dark shade should be applied in the more full areas, while the more atrophic areas of the skin should be covered with a more light cosmetic.

Sometimes you can also use a permanent tatoo; strange to believe, it can also improve the texture of the scar tissue  especially when it comes from a surgical scar.

Normally a good camouflage for acne scars lasts for a whole day.
To remove the camouflage cream you need a makeup remover cream or a specific lotion.
In order to realize a good corrective makeup you must know the color theory and how and how the colors react when they are combined. camouflage for acne scars
You must apply a neutralizer product to combat the unnatural color of the lesion and to reduce the amount'of make-up  used to cover it.
The neutralizer is therefore not necessarily the same as the color of the skin which is to be achieved and therefore the color of cosmetic remedies are quite different from those of normal makeup.

In the simple terms, using the color wheel you choose  the opposite color to that of the lesion.
So  if it is a red discolouration, the neutralizer should be green, but if it tends to orange the neutralizer shluld be Blue.
Most post-surgical lesions and skin diseases such as acne rosacea, or congenital malformations such as hemangiomas, require a neutralizer if you really want to cover them completely.
Once correct the color of the lesion, you can apply a regular make-up to  get  natural results.
