Apple Cider Vinegar for Acne scars

by Carla

I've found that apple cider vinegar mixed with equal parts water for a 1:1 solution and applied to scars morning and evening is quite effective. Using this in combination with using an egg white mask (one egg white mixed with a teaspoon of lemon juice) seems to fade the marks dramatically.
The malic acid in the vinegar gently exfoliates your skin and may help with some indented scarring - also softens the skin and helps with acne. You must give it a couple of months for improvements.

Would you buy a vinegar from the supermarket that is not clear, has got a brown tinge to it, and most of all you find something floating in it. In all likelihood you will not buy this. This is the prime reason why manufacturers distil the vinegar. The pure vinegar is steamed to get the sparking clear vinegar that is available at the supermarket. This steaming process destroys almost all of the health giving nutrients. What it does do is give the vinegar an excellent eye appeal.

Apple cider vinegar is rich in alpha-hydroxy acids, helping to dissolve fatty deposits on the skin’s surface and reducing scaly conditions, promoting a softer, smoother appearance. This miracle fluid also regulates the pH of the skin.

When first starting out, dilute the vinegar with water to an approximate 10% solution. Apply the concoction with a cotton pad 1-3 times daily. Treat the ACV as a toner and leave it on your skin throughout the day.

Once your skin gets used to the 10% solution, if needed, you can gradually increase the amount of ACV until you are using it in its original form. For the first few weeks of applying ACV on the skin, the fumes will burn your eyes. It's an effect very similar to the one experienced from cutting fresh onions. Once you get used to the ACV, this will no longer be a problem.
