Acne is an ugly beast
by Raffaella
The first time I went to a dermatologist for acne, I was only 12 years old and the sentence which I was told by the doctor and which still resounds in my mind was:
"Acne is an ugly beast!"
I was just at the beginning of my long history but my forehead was covered with small pimples under the skin that, in subsequent years, are "exploded" through various stages until the most serious, the cystic form.
Of course the acne did not stop at the front but it has spread cheeks, chin, the neck and back.
While I tried a little bit of everything, from antibiotics to be used outside of a range of creams which do not even remember the name because they were not effective, I had to learn to live with pimples.
Time has passed and my strong character allowed me to reach 18 without too much damage to my personality;then, finally I discovered the
Diane pill that has put some order in the appearance of my face.
Today I am 35 years old, cystic acne is just a bad memory but during certain days of the month some pimples reappear again, sometimes on the front, sometimes on the neck, often on the back. They are there to remind me of my past history and I also understand that my acne, probably will never heal completely.
Fortunately, today Internet exist, there are data, news from around the world and now I know that I can read the experiences of others,I can compare and feel part of a community .
In any case. "Acne is an ugly beast!"
