Bio-Oil for Scars: improve the appearance of your acne scars!

Bio-Oil for Scars? Bio-Oil® for Scars is a specialist skincare product that helps improve theappearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone.

Its advanced formulation, which contains the breakthrough ingredient PurCellin Oil™, also makes it highly effective for numerous other skin concerns, including aging skin and dehydrated skin.

PurCellin Oil™ is a laboratory recreation of the preen gland oil of ducks. During preening, a duck secretes oil from its preen gland and distributes it over its entire plumage in the familiar twisted-neck action that one often associates with ducks.

This oil creates a thin, non-greasy layer on the surface of the feathers without which water would not pearl off and the bird would struggle to swim.

Also, because oil contains no oxygen, it provides an exceptional storage environment for vitamins. Bio-Oil for scars includes many beneficial skin ingredients such as Vitamin A, Vitamin E, calendula oil, lavender oil, rosemary oil, and chamomile oil. This mix of plant oils and vitamins has been clinically shown to be beneficial to the skin.

Bio-Oil for scars should be massaged in a circular motion into the scar and surrounding skin twice daily for a minimum of 3 months. Younger scars have a greater chance of improvement within a shorter time period, however scars that are older will also benefit from the regular use of Bio-Oil. On new scars, Bio-Oil should be applied only once the wound has healed and should never be used on broken skin.

The Bio-Oil formula comprises a special mix of plant oils and vitamins. View larger.

Ingredients:

- Vitamin A:(Retinyl Palmitate on the label) helps improve the skin’s elasticity, texture and tone.

- Vitamin E:The most widely used antioxidant in skincare products today, Vitamin E increases the moisture content of the epidermis, thereby making the skin softer, smoother and more supple. Vitamin E also assists in the proliferation and maintenance of healthy skin.

- Calendula Officinalis: more commonly referred to as marigold, has been used for centuries as a natural antioxidant and has the ability to clarify and condition the skin, while providing soothing and calming benefits for sensitive skin types.

- Lavender oil: is widely known to have skin conditioning properties, and is also effective in calming and soothing the skin.

- Rosemary oil: helps to invigorate and condition the skin, in addition to having calming and soothing properties.

- Chamomile oil: has a calming and soothing effect and is particularly beneficial for sensitive skin. It also helps to condition and clarify the skin and assists in maintaining its natural health.

- PurCellin Oil™ acts as a delivery system for Bio-Oil’s other ingredients, dramatically improving the application and spreadability of the product, and allowing for targeted absorption into the skin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, It Works! Just Wait it Out..., March 28, 2008
I was skeptical at first about Bio-Oil for Scars, but after giving it a bit of time in trying it, I come to find that it actually works. You just have to keep using it and checking up on your progress. My only disappointment was that I wish I had more of it. I have used this on my old acne scars and stretch marks and have watched them slowly fade. I also like the fact that it has mostly natural ingredients that I can clearly read and understand on the box.

4.0 out of 5 stars Results Came Fasterthan I Expected, April 3, 2008

(REAL NAME)
When I saw this product offered to "Vine" participants, I thought it would be one that my wife, who is a fair-skinned blond, could use. She applied it to a place on her arm for several days before I asked her about it. When I looked at her arm, I could immediately tell where she had used it for that area was smoother looking and even felt smoother.

This got me very interested in Bio-Oil for scars, and I thought I'd use it on a scar on my head near my hairline and on a "liver" spot (or is it called an "age" spot?), and I have been very pleased with the results.

The scar is a little over two inches long in the shape of an "L," and for the three years I've had it, almost an inch of it was still reddish and has looked like it was still healing. The doctor who treated me told me to put Neosporin on it, and it would heal without much of a scar. Well, he was wrong. Now, in the week that I have been using Bio-Oil, the red part of the scar has decreased in length to where it is only 1/4th of an inch in length. The liver spot on the back of my hand has decreased in color to where it is difficult to find.

Like one other reviewer, I am going to post a follow-up to this review in several weeks to let you know two things: 1) Did both areas, the scar and the liver spot, continue to improve, and 2) What happened once I stopped applying Bio-Oil, for it is one thing for a product to work, but it is even better if the product produced some sort of permanent result.

For now, it looks like this product is living up to its claims.
